Each year, Saskatchewan recognizes the National Day of Mourning on April 28th as a day for employers and employees to remember those who have died, as well those who are injured or ill on-the-job.

Each year on this day, the province renews its commitment to improve occupational health and safety in Saskatchewan workplaces.  Workplaces are encouraged to take time to recognize those affected by work-related illnesses, injuries and deaths, by looking for ways to improve health and safety in the workplace, observing moments of silence and wearing ribbons or armbands.

In the Saskatchewan legislature, the names of those who lost their lives to their work will be read into the provincial record, and inscribed in the national registry at the Canadian Labour Congress in Ottawa.

Individuals are encouraged to take an active role in promoting health and safety as a vibrant part of workplace culture.
