Role of the EmployerThe employer must ensure that the occupational health and safety representative has enough time to carry out his/her duties during normal working hours, with no lost of pay or other benefits. Training of the RepresentativeTraining is crucial to the success of the occupational health and safety representative. It gives the representative the necessary tools for the job. The employer is expected to ensure that the representative is trained in his or her functions and duties. (see Regulation 46). Representative training is available at no charge from our Occupational Health and Safety Division (see OHS Training Courses below) and other agencies approved by the our division to deliver training.
