Dental RadiographyDentists commonly use x-rays for the imaging of the teeth, bones and surrounding soft tissues of their patients. The Radiation Safety Unit of OHS strives to ensure that dentists and their employees are aware of the safe use of radiation equipment and of the appropriate training required for workers who operate these diagnostic tools. Over the past few years, there have been dramatic changes in dental imaging technology. There has been a significant shift away from the use of film to obtain radiographic images to digital technologies that display images on high resolution monitors.
